Site and System Maintenance
Protection That Makes Sense
GDS has a deep understanding of the civil and radio components needed and used in a communication site. Having the engineering team that understands power demand, right sizing electrical service, and backup generators, gives a deeper understanding of maintenance and operations requirements but also testing processes and fueling expectations from system design. Our knowledge of the radio system design and relationships to the total system design allows our team to respond appropriately to the system needs. Another area of strength in the GDS solution is our ability to assist in remote monitoring of the system components using system and shelter embedded monitoring hardware to create a tier response to the trouble tickets and a preventative maintenance program.
The tiered maintenance plan allows for a lower cost and best value solution by recognizing that the type of response needed can be coordinated for the majority of the Operations and Maintenance tasks. Our tiered plan utilizes regionalized resources. This allows the GDS team to respond within the allowed time frame to outages and trouble tickets as well as operational efficiency in executing planned periodic maintenance efforts. By using these regionally based personnel, already trained and in market, our solution reduces the cost for the lowest tier services, all of which will be non-mission critical periodic maintenance activities. By sharing existing resources located in market, our response time is short and our cost low while remaining focused on the highest quality standards. Our second tier of services is related to unplanned repairs. These operations will be covered by the previously discussed approach but supplemented with competitive support contracts with local vendors pre-qualified by our Subcontract Management Plan for qualifications, safety and cost. The majority of the system’s failures are not on components that impact Operational Availability (Ao), most of which are designed with redundant rollover, either by diversity or hot swap designs. This knowledge of system design and implementation allows the Patriot solution to incorporate a tiered response that reduces site maintenance costs. Our approach is to achieve multiple objectives within the structured planned periodic maintenance window while on site to repair the failed component identified in the trouble ticket. For example, our solution would require a database search of the planned maintenance on the site to see if we could perform an oil change or the generator or filter change on the HVAC units while on site repairing a broken gate or replace a tower light. Our highest tier will be reserved for security vetted personnel and would be for the sensitive processes such as equipment and software upgrades and all encryption work.
This tiered system response reduces cost while protecting the integrity of the system.
Important Note
All radio systems are covered by a manufacture's warranty. When these warranties expire, your equipment is vulnerable to costly repairs. Contact GrayDS today about one of our service plans.
